Light of the Moon for flute and marimba was premiered by Alheli Pimienta and Naoko Tsujita in 2017. This piece begins with a flute cadenza with a pentatonic scale that is commonly used in the Japanese traditional music. The marimba accompaniment, with a 7/8 groove, adds an unfamiliar taste to the scale which creates an interesting atmosphere.
